ZONTA CLUB ACTIVITIES EXPLANATION
SECRET SISTER
This is an optional program. Each participant fills out an informational sheet which gives insight to their personal favorite activities, foods, colors, hobbies, etc. Names are drawn in August. One member is in charge and privy to the exchange of names info.
New year begins in September. Each month you surprise your Secret Sis with a gift. Many gifts are themed to reflect the holidays. Gifts are usually brought to the meetings but may be delivered by you to their home or place of business.
Cost is whatever you wish to spend. In August we have a potluck dinner at a member's home where we reveal who our Secret Sis was and choose new names for the coming year.
VICTORIAN TEA AND BOUTIQUE
Held on the 1 st Sunday in November - our primary fundraiser.
Members and friends set 60 decorated tea tables for four. Tea served elegantly, in the old English fashion.
Boutique held before tea - primarily themed baskets whose contents are donated by members. (examples of themes: butterflies, Christmas, coffee, Italian, wine, bath and beauty, wild animals, etc.) Each member is responsible for the contents of a minimum of five (5) baskets - there is no maximum. Some baskets are sold outright; others are used in a silent auction. We usually have a total of 149 plus baskets.
This is our most important and time consuming event. We send out 500 invitations and are sold out every year.
HOLIDAYPARTY
Newest members plan a party for member’s spouses and guests. Mostly done in member’s home with potluck appetizers. Gifts of$10.00 to $15.00 brought for fun exchange game.
SHOP AND WRAP FOR OUR ZONTA FAMILIES
Through our partnership with Interface, we provide gifts for the families living in our 2 Zonta transitional homes. Wish lists provided by Interface. Members volunteer to shop and wrap. Club pays for gifts.
RE-ENTRY SCHOLARSHIP
Zonta provides three scholarships to women who have gone back to school for education. Applications sent to local colleges. Selections made by application send personal interview with Zonta member volunteers.
RAE ROSS AWARD
Medallion and certificate. Named in memory of a past Conejo Valley Zonta President, this award is given to a community volunteer who is outstanding in her commitment to the community. Members may nominate in February and March.
Jane Klausen award
District award for women encouraging them to enter careers and seek leadership positions in business related fields.
YOUNG WOMEN IN PUBLIC AFFAIRS (YWPA)

MATHEWS LEADERSHIP FORUM
Zonta helps sponsor this event. Community business people have dinner with CLU students. Keynote speaker and topical discussion. Members participating must pay for their own dinner.
INTERSERVICE CLUB LUNCHEON
Held on the Thursday at noon of the CVD carnival week. All service clubs and volunteer organizations in the area enjoy getting together. Awards given to service club of the year - under 50 members and over 50 members, volunteer organization of the year
and youth organization of the year. The winners of these awards are responsible for organizing and setting up the luncheon for the following year. Each member pays for her own lunch.
SPECIAL KID'S DAY
Since 1985, Zonta has organized and hosts a Friday morning at the Conejo Valley Days carnival for "special needs" children selected by local school districts. Approximately 350 children, some severely, some mildly handicapped, along with hundreds of one-on-one volunteers, enjoy games, rides, petting zoo, clowns police cars, fire engines, hamburger luncheon,. frozen treats and more. This day requires a lot of coordination with various schools and organizations. We're there setting up at 8:00 am and cleaning up at 12:30 to 1:00 pm. We usually head to EI Torito afterwards. Great service project!
INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
Held every two years in even numbered years. It is open to all members who wish to attend. Our club pays for 1 delegate, usually the president, to attend. All other members wishing to attend are responsible for their own expenses.
CREATIVE OPTIONS FOR WOMEN
CLU hosts a day of seminars, lunch and keynote speaker for women. Zonta is a sponsor of this event. We set up a display table in the morning that tells about Zonta and our role in the community.
