The Zonta International Foundation established the Jane M. Klausman
Women in Business Scholarships in 1997 for women pursuing an undergraduate
degree in business leading to a business management career. This program
was established from a bequest by Jane M. Klausman, a member of the
Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York USA, and the 1990-1995 Zonta International
Parliamentarian. During her career, Ms. Klausman was a professional
secretary, parliamentarian and entrepreneur.
The Scholarship
The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarships are awarded
to women studying business at the undergraduate level who have demonstrated
outstanding potential in the field. Zonta International offers six
scholarships in the amount of US$5,000 each. The scholarship may be
used at any university, college or institute offering accredited courses
and degrees.
Who is Eligible?
Women of any nationality pursuing an undergraduate business degree
who demonstrate outstanding potential in the field are eligible. Members
and employees of Zonta International or the Zonta International Foundation
are not eligible to apply for the Scholarships.
What are the Requirements?
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Be eligible to enter the third or fourth year of an undergraduate
degree program (first university degree) at an accredited university/college/institute
at the time the funds are received.
Have achieved an outstanding academic record during the first two-three
years of academic studies.
Demonstrate intent to complete a program in business and show outstanding
achievement in business-related subjects, as recorded on the official
university/college/institute transcript.

Young Women in Public
Affairs Deadline
for application: February

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public and political life by recognizing a young woman’s (age 16-20) commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.
Applicants are asked to reflect on their lives, their commitment to the communities in which they live, and the role models that have inspired them to become involved in their community or in a specific prospective career. The Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs program looks to the young women of today for the leaders of tomorrow.
Applications are due to: The Zonta Club of the Conejo Valley Area by February 6, 2006. Applicants must be pre-university or pre-college students (age 16-20).
1) Completion of official application (application may be photocopied).
Applications must be typed. Hand written applications will not be
accepted.
2) Request two confidential recommendations from adults not related
to the applicant such as teachers, school officials or community leaders.
3) Submit verification of current enrollment completed by school
official using form provided.
4) Provide a sealed transcripts, which will be reviewed only in case
of a tie.
5) Provide a current photograph of the applicant.
Supporting documentation not requested will not be considered. All
applications and supporting information become the property of Zonta
International. Zonta International has final authority over any aspect
of the Awards.
The Zonta Club of the Conejo Valley Area is a service group consisting of executives in business. Through the efforts of the club’s members, a Foundation has been established to fund scholarships to women seeking to acquire additional education and skills in order to return to employment after being out of the paid work force to care for their families.The Zonta Foundation of the Conejo Valley Area is offering five $1,000 scholarships to career-oriented, re-entry students with a sincere need for financial assistance.
One scholarship will be awarded in honor of Dr. Maxine Crossley in honor of education
One scholarship is reserved for a qualifying student majoring in graphic arts desktop publishing or Journalism to honor the late Martha Desch, a local, well-known writer, editor and graphic artist, and
One is the Betty Norton Scholarship for victims of domestic violence to improve their status.
One re-entry scholarship is available for qualifying students majoring in nursing.
The last scholarship is allocated for general continuing education.
The Foundation's representatives

include the applicant's name,
address, telephone number,
personal history, career goals,
and reasons for financial
need. Presently enrolled students
should include a letter of
acceptance from school. A
personal interview is required.
Awardees must be available
to receive their scholarship
at an evening dinner meeting
held the third Tuesday in
March. Interview Date to be
advised individually.
