2002 - Young Women In Public Affairs Award
- Ruth Cisowski

This year's recipient of the 2002 Young Women in Public Affairs Award is Katie Winningham, a senior at Oak Park High School. Katie has served as Student Body President this year, Parent Faculty Club Rep in 11th grade, and Class Secretary in 10th grade.

She has been an active member of the Varsity Cross-Country Track Team in 11th and 12th grades and is presently team captain. She has been a Peer Counselor since the 10th grade and has served as President of the Campus Life Christian Club, President for two terms of the National Honor Society 11th & 12th grades, and involved in the Amnesty International Club as co-President, Secretary, and a member since 10th grade. Katie has been very active in the YMCA Youth Government Conferences every year, Student Leadership and Ministry Bible Conference, Agape Choir Tour, and State Peer Counseling Conferences.

Despite all these challenging activities, she has managed to maintain a 4.065 GPA.

Katie's application showed how her attitude toward Women's Advocacy locally and worldwide which is in line with Zonta's ideals, has made her the best choice as this year's recipient.

It is with great pleasure that we support and recommend Katie to the YWPA District level award.

Congratulations Katie Winningham .
