Klausman Award
-Sandra Cherry

Tuesday, October 16, 2001 our club presented the Jane Klausman Scholarship Award to Yuna Kim, a student in the business School at Pepperdine University.

Kim applied for the $400 scholarship in April 2001.

District 9 Zonta Clubs submitted nine applicants to a group of independent judges who picked Kim over the other applicants. Her application has been forwarded to Zonta International in Chicago where 5 applicants will be selected to receive $4,000.

Kim spoke to our club about how she realized how important her father was in her life as a role model after she spent a summer working in the corporation he works for and realized that she wants to emulate him in business. She was born in South Korea and is in her third year at Pepperdine University.

Jane Klausman bequeathed funds to Zonta International to set up scholarship in her name to be offered to women in third or fourth year business studies at four-year universities. The women are required to write an essay, provide references from 3 professors and be enrolled and in good standing at their school.
